Studierende der Anglistik/Amerikanistik können an diesem Modul zwar teilnehmen, jedoch keine Credit Points für den Optionalbereich erwerben. Anmeldung: Per VSPL (s. den Punkt Anmeldeverfahren . Bei Problemen mit der VSPL-Anmeldung kann eine rechtzeitige Anmeldung vor Beginn des Moduls immer auch bei der/dem Lehrenden (NICHT den Modulbeauftragten) erfolgen (in der Sprechstunde oder per Email). Termin der ersten Sitzung: die Starttermine der Einzelveranstaltungen des Moduls können auch unter dem Menüpunkt Veranstaltungen eingesehen werden. Endnote des Moduls : Die Endnote wird aus dem Durchschnitt der Noten beider Lehrveranstaltungen errechnet. Prüfungstermin: Es gibt keinen Prüfungstermin außerhalb der regulären Veranstaltungszeiten. Die Unterrichtssprache ist Englisch; alle mündlichen und schriftlichen Leistungen müssen in Englisch erbracht werden. |

Teil 1: Introduction to the Study of Poetry, WS 2021/22, do 12-14 Teil 2a: Readings of Selected Early Modern Poems, WS 2021/22, do 10-12 Teil 2b: Metaphysical Poetry, WS 2021/22, di 12-14 Teil 2c: Global Poetry, WS 2021/22, mo 16-18 In this module, students will practise their skills in analysing poetry, and will be introduced to some important forms and periods of poetry writing in English. In Part 1 students will be introduced to the genre of poetry and the craft of poetry analysis. They will look in detail at various aspects of poems (mode, genre, form, theme, situation, sound stratum, diction, syntax, imagery, context) and establish a 'checklist' of features to be considered in the interpretive process. In Part 2 students may choose to look at early modern, metaphysical or global poetry. All the poems will be subjected to in-depth analyses against their historical/social, philosophical and literary background. |

Verständnis theoretischer Texte verschiedener Fachrichtungen (interdisziplinäre Kompetenz), Verständnis von Grundbegriffen der Literaturwissenschaft und Cultural Studies, Entwicklung von Fertigkeiten in der Textinterpretation, Erweiterung der Sprachkompetenz. |
