The students will work in pairs to prepare a presentation based on scholarly readings. In addition, they will write a course paper (5-8 pp.) on a chosen theme related migration and displacement today or in the past. Active participation in the lectures and the exercises. |

Teil 1: Transnational migration and displacement (Lecture): from March 16 to April 8, 2022. Teil 2: Transnational migration and displacement (Exercise): from April 16 to May 6, 2022. During the course, the students will learn about key concepts and currrent scholarly discourses related to transnational migration and displacement. Upon completion of the course, students will be able to define and explain the significant developments, and phenomena of cultural and international interaction, as well as the factors that have affected them. Inhaltliche Beschreibung Teil 1: The lectures include historical and contemporary examples of migration and displacement as well as a methodological overview of the field of migration research. Inhaltliche Beschreibung Teil 2: The major aspects of the history of cultural and international interaction combined with exercises. |
Lernziele |
After the course, the students will be able to critically reflect on policies, public discourses, and political issues concerning transnational migration and displacement. |
