The course offers tools to critically assess the notions of sustainability, development, Anthropocene and resilience, among others. The course explores how global sustainability goals are realised locally and how ethnographic research in particular has been used to give insights into the meanings, beliefs, and values that relate to the idea of sustainability. The course includes an excursion to a reindeer farm, which will be streamed to virtual participants.
Lernziele A student will be able to describe the main trends of anthropological sustainability research and analyse the prevailing perceptions of environment, sustainability and development present in society. The student understands the role and objectives of anthropological sustainability research as part of a broader, multidisciplinary study of sustainability. He/she is able to explain what the notion of cultural sustainability stands for and understands the notion in relation to the other three dimensions of sustainability (ecological, social, economic).
