Weekly journals
Weekly journals are one page reports outlining individual learning that is relevant for and related to the previous class. Journals are not meant to describe class content and
proceedings. Weekly journals may contribute maximum 12 points: 1 per delivery that meets both criteria:
•Timeliness: the delivery arrives on time
•Relevance: it relates to problems covered during the previous class without repeating
class content
Reading reports
Reading reports are a structured record of each student's readings. Students are required to read the indicated textbook chapters and one additional article that they find in the EBSCO database (one that is related to the concepts covered in the textbook chapters). It is expected that everyone is ready to discuss their readings in the class. Reading reports may contribute maximum 24 points: 2 per delivery.
Criteria:
•Timeliness: the delivery arrives on time
•Completeness: the report comes with complete bibliographical information and note on learning from the readings
Team stories (presentations)
Team stories are prepared on assigned issues / problems in a team of 3 students. Each team is expected to prepare and upload information about their story (presentation) on moodle prior to the class meeting - the form of delivery may be chosen by the students (i.e. screenplay, poster, mindmap, diagram, .ppt). Team stories may contribute maximum 48 points: 4 per delivery.
Criteria:
•Timeliness: the delivery arrives on time (on moodle)
•Relevance: to the assigned problem
•Learning: statement of the team's learning in the process of preparing a story
•Novelty: the story brings an opportunity for learning for other students
Final Interview
The Final Interview is a meeting of professors and 3-4 students to discuss diligence,
bringing and learning of each person. The Final Interview may contribute maximum 16 points that reflect diligence, bringing and learning of the student. |

Teil 1 und 2: Understanding Business, Dates tba
The first and major goal of this course is to get acquainted with business as a form of
economic activity – its meaning, dimensions, promises, and problems. The other, equally important objective is to become able to see businesses in their functioning and to become able to explain what, why and how they are doing. The foundation for the course is laid out in the textbook with its content, examples, and cases. Class activities will concentrate on discussion of chosen business problems. The course is based on tutorials and workshops, active participation in class activities is required!
The issues covered in the course include:
