Teil 1 und 2: Physical Activity & Health: Timetable Monday and Wednesday 13:30-14:30 CEST/CET (Provisional) Classes will start September 6 and end December 20, 2024.
The aim of this module is to investigate the influence of physical activity on health. Various factors are examined for this purpose. These topics will be dealt with in concrete terms: Unit 1: Introduction and history:
This section explains the historical importance of physical activity and its importance on health. These topics will be addressed: Definitions of key terms, Early observations, Modern trends, Prevalence of activity/inactivity world-wide and Physical activity and mortality
Unit 2: Benefits of exercise: This section explains the benefits physical activity and its importance on health. These topics will be addressed: Physiological benefits, Psycological benefits and Sociological benefits
Unit 3: Assessing personal fitness and setting goals: This section shows how to assess physical fitness and use fitness test results to gauge the actual physical status and progress in the future. These topics will be addressed: Preparation screening and risk assessment, Fitness assessment and Setting goals
Unit 4: Adopting and maintaining healthy habits:
This section explains the positive effect of maintaining and adopting healthy habits in the long term. These topics will be addressed: Defining wellness, Motivation to become physically active, Activity program options and Healthy habits and diet
Unit 5: Exercise and physical activity for building a better you:
This activity shows how to create an individualized program to improve aerobic fitness, muscular fitness, flexibility, and balance. These topics will be addressed: Aerobic activity, Resistance training and Flexibility and balance
Unit 6: Fitness and health for every age: This section explains the training program each age group (children and adolescents, adults, older adults) should follow, considering that each age group has unique areas of focus related to exercise. These topics will be addressed: Children and adolescents: up to age 17, Adults: Ages 18 to 64 and Older adults: ages 65 and older
Unit 7: Fitness and health fo every body: Considering that some circumstances can affect fitness levels (including health or medical conditions), this section explains the training program for each group (e.g., obesity, cardiovascular disease, diabetes, osteoporosis, bone health, cancer). These topics will be adressed: Obesity, Cardiovascular disease, Diabetes, Osteoporosis and bone health and Cance. |

Ask yourself questions about the reality surrounding you and actively participate in debates around it, analyzing the formulated judgments and reflecting on the consequences of your own and other people's decisions.
SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES:
- Know and understand the study of the sciences of Physical Activity and Sports and the effects of those activities on behavioral, social, psychological, physiological, and biomechanical factors through bibliographical and technological developments on the subject.
- Promote the formation of long-term and autonomous habits of doing physical activity and sports, evaluate physical condition risks of physical activity, and prescribe physical exercises oriented towards health.
- Plan, develop, and evaluate the implementation of training programs |
