This course offers an in-depth exploration of the complex interplay between sports and society within a global framework. It examines how sports reflect and shape societal values, norms, and structures, while also highlighting their multifaceted roles in contemporary life. Topics include the ways sports foster national identity, drive economic development, and influence political landscapes, as well as their function as powerful platforms for social change. Students will analyze issues such as sports diplomacy, gender dynamics, and the commercialization of sports, alongside the impact of mega-events on local and global communities. Furthermore, the course investigates the future of sports in an increasingly digital world, considering the rise of new technologies, media, and globalized fan cultures. Through case studies and critical discussions, students will gain a comprehensive understanding of the societal impact of sports and the diverse factors that shape the global sports landscape. |

By the end of this course, students will be able to:
1. Critically analyze the relationship between sports and society within different cultural and global contexts.
2. Explain how sports reflect and shape societal values, norms, identities, and power structures.
